Day Tripper

Day Tripper

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Day Tripper

just a slant of peeking daylight

i'm undercover

the alias

writing impromptu wordplay

in pillow talk levity

closing the shades

i pick up the pen

and hide within the sheets

of my life

unsure if the ink stains

will ever wash out

but in the moment

just hoping

to re-dream the theme

unnoticed

until my poetic feet

touch the floor.

The first verse sounds so safe to me; you are protected within your safe haven, where the creativity happens, surrounded by the solid walls of your duvet. Nothing else going on matters, nothing will penetrate your sphere or distract you while you are lost to your poetic moments. I love it, it feels familiar.

My pleasure Jacob.
Laura.
Pillow talk and sheets suggest you not only live and breathe writing, but dream it too. Or perhaps it is paper ink stained sheets we smudge our thoughts onto, and live through our words.
Whatever the meaning, keep those feet off the ground Jacob. Keep dreaming in words.

We do seem to flit in and out, trying to keep our foot on the ground. I can relate so well to the feeling here.
Nice one, as always, Jacob.

I love the tangled feeling of your imagery, as if tumbling senselessly thru the steps required to pull ourselves together & show up for life! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

“ It took me so-oo long to find out. I found out!” Lennon and McCartney would love your verses here- the whimsy, the lightheartedness...of course the title and the jaunty metaphors! You would have made a great 5th Beatle! Ink stains are what poets are and what they leave for the world. I love this write!

Life, love and relationships can be crazy, weird to some extent. Sometimes we can uncover the truth, find it so hard to wash the stains away. Other times, we boldly proclaim but then withdraw and hide beneath those sheets. Many times we feel grounded then underground. We feel stability and instability. Nothing firm underneath our feet. I love it.

You are welcome sir Jacob.
Love your title Jacob. The wonderfully creative Beatles. I imagine your muse visits when the music plays. You certainly have plenty of day trips with your muse and her love of prolific poetry. You are perfectly in tune with her. You are in the zone. Perfectly penned.

Any sudden movement can disrupt thoughts, some of the best thoughts are when one is still. Like the smooth low of this one.

Flow not low lol typo, you always support mine, it is a pleasure.
Out quiet rooms, good things can often come. Those times when we latch onto something worth holding onto until it's time to be released all at once.
