Whatever

Whatever

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Whatever

is this art?

or poetry,

or both

or neither

and did you ever exist

when our lips purportedly met

conveying askance of tongue twisting

not of the "difficult to say words" kind

but more the "silent chemical reaction

fogged up the windows" kind

in what we considered a limousine of love

even if it was only a '64 rambler

with reclining seats

for reclining effort

and bended knees next afternoon

as the priest listened breathlessly

to the synopsis

of

art?

or poetry,

or both

or neither

even if you didn't exist

i could bring the dream of you

into the confessional

and amuse Father blank

who would stare blankly

through the screen

wondering if my car

had a good radio...

a good combination that we do hope to achieve....
thank you, gram,

there is just something special about that last stanza, I suppose maybe we do bore others a bit with our dreams of love, but there is something to be said about a fine car that has a great stereo for those long rides on the life road.

yes, there is...very special...i appreciate your visit and words, Corset,

An amusing piece here that recreates the trade off between spirit and hormones. The scene in the confessional is really rich. I can see the priest's eyes staring "blankly." Those guys do have a hard job.

thank you, Julie,

Your muse taking you back to those early days of young passion, in that 64 rambler and then the guilt and confession to the priest who was probably guilty himself of stuff far worse. You ask questions, questions that remain unanswered all these years later. Does it matter, does it really matter now?

Ah that tryst raises its head again and that car must have seen some action! And Father blank probably shot them too! Once again you twist description and time and place into the mirror of reflection and still seek answers that will never be answered. Another sadly poignant piece Jacob.
