Face

Face

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Face

time is threatening to outrun itself

and take me along with it.

such burden for those hands on the face of the clock

to hold me and tick away life simultaneously

i love you,

but grow grayer by the second

i see the hands moving

but don't know if the feet are keeping up

maybe i'll live the rest of my life

in roman numerals

they're harder to decipher,

and leave more to the imagination

much like you

and this poem.

Allegorically supreme as always Jacob! Love the treatment you give death in this pathos packed short piece. You inject that feeling of being out of step as we grow older and the clock runs faster as we still feel there is much left undone.
