Face

Face

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Face

time is threatening to outrun itself

and take me along with it.

such burden for those hands on the face of the clock

to hold me and tick away life simultaneously

i love you,

but grow grayer by the second

i see the hands moving

but don't know if the feet are keeping up

maybe i'll live the rest of my life

in roman numerals

they're harder to decipher,

and leave more to the imagination

much like you

and this poem.

thank you, Wafa,

Father Time's hourglass seems to be lopsided...the upper half smaller than the lower half...and the sands keep falling faster and faster...since it's made of glass we can watch the damn thing run down.
Love plays along...hopefully aging with us...not caring about the gray hair and wrinkles, moving hand in hand for whatever time we have left.

A good write, j.

Yeah, we'd come in, grab a bite and run back out to play hide 'n seek in the dark.

or Midnight Ghost...remember that one?

Yeah, and sardines!
Time flies and takes with it the experiences and memories we hold dear and wish to keep. We stand firm and question where has it all gone - in the confusion is the realization that we can never relive the past and feel regret but unable to change the course of life = it must go on!

Most welcome Sir!
Time doesn't wait for anyone and before you know it you are clinging to the clock hands begging it to slow down while those grey hairs multiply faster by the hour:) You love life. And then there are the other meanings too depending on which face you are addressing, and there could be several here. Liked this one Jacob. Very relatable.

I am laughing out loud.. not so much because I find these words funny.. but rather because I dont... (we call that incongruity of affect) where I come from, and you write truth.. or at least you do as far as my experience of truth is concerned... Neville

"i see the hands moving

I hear ya!... the hands of time! One wishes they were more delicate and caring

I don't know if they qualify as puns? but I love the play on multiple meanings of words. the language bounces around like like daffy duck quarreling with bugs bunny. But like daffy duck we are all left with the mystery, the enigma of just how did this happen.

Love is eternal and has no time - no matter the word age colour of hair it’s just another number seen as we see it- time is what we make of it made out of choices- if you want something go get it if you have something to say say it if you want to do something do it- time waits upon nobody you choose how it gets taken up but here and now is all we actually have- what are you going to do????🌹
