Well written, I love the flea/memory comparison. We can all be happy that you didn't do metaphors with ticks and lyme disease. Those buggers can really kill ya.

now aint that just so darn irritating.. just when you think its safe to go back in the water .. another predator grabs ya from behind..... I think this is more clever than clever...
Wonderful to be free of what we ourselves allow ourselves to be trapped in- but then again it’s not so easy for one with a pure heart- life goes on..I’ve learnt.. be happy ..be good to you..you have so much love kindness to give give it freely and it will return..all at right time🌹

It still amazes me how deep those irritating little mites can bite and how insanely jealous they are of us when we aren't being irritated by their memory. With every absent minded itch, the realisation becomes more apparent, that like herpes, it is the gift that keeps on giving.
And we fall for it every time.

You know I am smiling. Your muse has given you fleas. Those irritating little blood suckers and they remind you of a past love. Pleased that the situation sorted itself :))

What a great analogy. Damned fleas. Reaching that point of freedom and hope is definitely one of the best feelings in the world. You have a way with casting reflections that everyone can identify with and then some. Great work Jacob!
