folding Laundry

folding Laundry

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

folding Laundry

i find you disturbing

your heart abrasive

your touch raw and baffling

my mind a dryer

tossing and turning

emotions

i find you disturbing

my heart reluctant

i touch you discreetly

pensively

but then those wrinkles

iron out

when i realize

you are part of my cycle

and exactly what i need.

Ha!! This is sheer genius and ultra reality in high definition! Jacob you have one of the most imaginative minds and all your work seems so well thought out. Wonderful, I loved it!

thank you for your kind words, Crowley...

I enjoy your novel take on different metaphors. You are really good at following through with the initiation until it all comes around to the dying fall or uptick of the conclusion--depending on your subject. I like the way this starts out in the negative--in that space where we are trepidatious about letting someone in because we are uncertain of the effect they will have on us--and then it filters down into a positive ending.

Sometimes the thing we fear the most is the thing that will revolutionize our lives. I feel like your poem is speaking to the miracle of that. Great work, Jacob.

Every week i go to the laundromat to wash all of my restaurants tablecloths and place-mats etc. In my "washing off the commerce" a diatribe of the repetition of the cycles inevitably permeates my conscious for 18 years now. you know like clockwork I'm gonna be standing here on Wednesday doing this:( and unlike you i'm beginning to think it might be time to end this cycle:)

Sounds like a heavy load tossing and turning about but the heating cycle has. smoothly cooled the wrinkles to permanent press on the next cycle.neat poem

tossing and turning emotions can be tiring...but sometimes we must play the hand we've been dealt...
wrinkles can be ironed out...or dry them on the spin cycle.

Well done, j.

If only it were as easy as adding a little fabric softener,. I have yet to find one suitable for use on humans though.
It could be worse though Jacob. My mind is also a dryer, but one with loose pennies clunking around in it.
Everyone and everything is all part of the cycle, even the weird one that goes on for about two days and shrinks everything to baby sizes. Man, have I known a few of them 🤓

i hate when those coins get loose in there....thanks for your words, and the smile, Lorry,

What goes around dont always come around within the time we have left.. life would be far too easy if everything was on the short cycle.. we could then just sit back and wait for the next round...

But when it does.. & when it brings something half decent... some of us just got to write it down before its gone again...... Most people find folding laundry very tedious... But a few people seem to get off on it............ Nice one jacob.
