In our present climate, anything is possible. We are now experiencing changes in the weather that is astounding mankind giving us reason to question prophesies coming to pass. Profound read here!
This can only be referring to the horrific massacres these last days have seen. Stanza one is a nod to the victims as well as a notation of the "coerced words" that certain politicians are finally being forced to speak. The last stanzas are grim images of the seemingly endless dismay we are feeling now. The nod to Conrad at the end is sums it all up very well. Well done.
I think baseball has been replaced as the great American pastime...and there are no winners.

Love this Jacob, especially the ending, which most of us will be admiring, but secretly wishing we had thought of it to help explain what we are all trying to do, make sense of our own personal darkened thoughts.
An explosion of nightmarish fears our mind throws at us, when all we crave is one splash of brightness.
I give the teacher an A+ on this.
you painted it again jacob..absolutely stunning contrast of white pages, coerced words and bloodied crimson and black flowers .. oh how your poem makes me pine for that hidden moon ..went out with the dogs at 3AM ... and she was nowhere to be found ;(((((((((((((((((((((((((((

Reliving the atrocities of recent mass shootings can catupult one into a dark place, espeically when one is largely helpless to challenge the way things work. Once again you cover the page in the emotion of it all in amazing word choice and the images you project in this freeverse Jacob.
this is terribly sad jacob and a most fitting and apt post, on the back of so much recent bloodshed and carnage.... I myself shed a tear and devised a brief embu for the victims and their loved ones.. indeed for the whole of your country at this most difficult time...

She doesn't want to see the carnage. After the dark comes light, after night comes day, it is always that way. After the chaos eventually there will be order. A really sad poem. Running away from violence, that's straight out of my dreams. I understand that running.
