Late Night Bender

Late Night Bender

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Late Night Bender

somnambulist's writings

next day, hungover

no memory

of tipping the pen

or of the drive home

to where the theme

passed out.

I don't drink. Still iam familiar with the sensation ... after a whole night of Netflix, next morning iam not sure of the beginning or the end my thoughts.

It is always my pleasure.
This made me chuckle. Maybe they are the best times to write. As the flow of the pen is mighty and quick
and sloppy but you speak from the heart.

We've all been there, j. who got the somnambulist blues, the night the pen the poem was broked and bespoked,

Hungover? Are you sure you "tipped the pen" and not "penned the tip", you know, to pay the Uber driver who stole your theme and sold it under his own name?

I don't believe I have ever attempted to write anything while drunk. Other altered states? Well, of course! But drunk? No balance or dexterity? Nope...

Or when you wake up with a great line and by the time you get the pen you get a brain cramp and all that appears is gibberish. It ties in to the unconscious subconscious daylight ramblings that have you walking down streets and suddenly realizing you missed your destination again.

I'd say its an age thing...but I've always been this way. %>}

Not sure if the writing goes sleepwalking or the writer.
But the end is definitely the same.
Did wake up one morning after a bender and found a poem I didn't remember writing.
It sure was a weird one.

Been there seen it done it! Jacob you have captured those late nights hammering out words like bullets, with or without the help of alcohol. A time when the tongue is loose and fingers flailing until sleep takes over and morning brings fragmented recall.
