The saying, 'pick yourself, dust yourself off and start all over again'. applies here. We cant be the loser and admit defeat...like a trouper/ a survivor we have to call on our morale and get the helium back in the balloon and rise like the Pheonix!
It takes a while, after that unintentional nosedive, to work up the courage to try again. The damage done can be almost insurmountable...somehow we survive...to get up on the horse again.
Oh my goodness, the imagery here is so vivid. That floating balloon receiving a cruel puncture, and the subsequent fall out. What a way to describe rejection. Magnificent. What have you been eating? You are on a roll at the moment.
Poetry Wheaties...no just kidding...:)
I don't know where any of it comes from, ever.

My muse cuddling up...i like that, thanks.
This short allegorical poem with impact reminded me of the book and film 'Enduring Love' by Ian McEwan. There is a scene when a man falls into a field after hanging on to a rope attached to the basket of a hot air baloon. I also had visions of the picture by Banksy of the little girl and the heart shaped baloon floating away from her. Very powerful little write Jacob.
