Marginal Expectations

Marginal Expectations

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Marginal Expectations

billowing words,

a minor infraction

a major intention

overrides the transgression's sin

and if we get it,

the clouds will smile in metaphor

and the rain will soak us in theme

it's the poet's dream.

I love this. A poem about what inspires a poet. Brilliant and so perfectly written.

thank you for your kind words, David.

Inspiration, that is what every poet longs for. Sometimes a steady flow of ideas if we are lucky, at other times elusive. Let the rain soak us in theme that will keep us all happy. Great piece of brevity Jacob.

A poet and inspiration are like a automobile and fuel. Neither goes anywhere without the other. The struggle to take parts of us and piece them together as poetry is always a challenge and rewarding when it is no longer a dream.

Absolutely, let the rain fall and bathe me in poetic inspiration. If only the clouds would smile on every poet. Lydi**

........... you are most welcome & true
We can fill the world with billowing clouds of words hoping no one notices our verbosity which is just a minor infarction...when our intention should override the transgression committed.

And if we've done our job correctly, and we're lucky, metaphorically the audience will smile and applause will rain down...and we can bask in the glow of fame. ;>}

Most likely...and that should read "minor infraction"
although I do like 'infarction'.
