In Solomon's Court

In Solomon's Court

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

In Solomon's Court

i was in the middle

of "bless me Father for I have..."

when i heard the sirens

his hands moved back to his pockets

his rosary clattered as the beads

fell like the sweat on his brow

through tinted screen

i saw the scene

recited my act of contrition

concentration amiss

heard the jangle of cuffs

not cuff links

the heavy sigh imploding

the rites read

as i knelt harder

questioning my faith

questioning his collar

and felt strangled by my own penance

as the other side emptied

and i spoke to no one

just a silent God

who seemed as confused

as i was.

a priceless monologue, fine piece of true art, I see life all on the stage, on trial, who is right and who is wrong? what does this matter when the conscience is having his own wars, of good and evil? questioning God, Universe and the existence. we are all a part of the "Whole" and this Whole is flowing inside us, blowing its essence in our cores, it's the human nature destroys that pure original essence.

a most wonderful read, You've shared with us a masterpiece, Thank You Sir*

thank you for your insightful words, Light...

The priest who is arrested and taken away from the confessional. Yes, it is confusing how a "man of G-d" can act in such a way. More than confusing....abhorrent! Years later there are grown men who still suffer because of the acts of these priests. Powerful words! Lydi**

Packs a punch and sent shivers down my spine. Just think parents were sending their children off to church to be abused by the very people who they should have trusted most. Repulsive to think about. I can't imagine how those children must have suffered. Excellent poetry Jacob.

dear Jacob... we live in times that stir our soul and find we need
to share our adversities with a Rosary.... Hail Mary.... one, two, three.
King Solomon prayed for Wisdom and received blessings. truly a poem
where the light shines through the stain glass windows. Pat

You're very welcome 👍
I hope this is not reminiscence and simply poetic licence describing the fall from grace of many of those we took the cloth and more! This has such impact as we watch the scene you unfold before us Jacob.
