In Solomon's CourtA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
i was
in the middle of "bless me Father
for I have..." when i heard the sirens his hands moved back to
his pockets his rosary clattered as
the beads fell like the sweat on
his brow through tinted screen i saw the scene recited my act of
contrition concentration amiss heard the jangle of
cuffs not cuff links the heavy sigh imploding the rites read as i knelt harder questioning my faith questioning his collar and felt strangled by my
own penance as the other side
emptied and i spoke to no one just a silent God who seemed as confused as i was. erin-cilberto 7/13/19 © 2019 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
