Soldier

Soldier

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Soldier

esoteric embraces

covert covenant

a love fitting for spies

of war,

the lines of battle prevent

solidarity among comrades of passion

sides sidled

and a smile will carry me like a stretcher

over the hills of indignant chatter

wounded skin from your touch

injured heart on life support

pull the plug and kiss me one last time

before my final breath is executed

and the armistice i find in your scent

when it is lying with me,

as the helicopter's wings

carry me to an imagined heaven.

For Queen and country. Over the top. Into the battlefield of war. The stench of rotting corpses laying all around you. You're comrades bodies laying dead around you. You must push on. Bullets flying past you're ears missing you by a inch. For Queen and country.

thank you for your review, HadesRising...

Soldiers in the battlefield must go through hell, before making it to heaven. Wonderfully expressed in your words what they endure ;-

What is it Pat Bennetar sings, "Love is a battlefield"

Excellent metaphors sir.

A soldier, battle weary dying for love, surrendering for one more kiss. Isn't it a pity relationships often turn into war zones. I guess it's great when a truce is called and the white flag is flying. At least there's a chance of reconciliation. I would say beware of sniper fire, once it gets that far though. That's where you took me Jacob with your wonderful words.

You are welcome :))
A strange juxtaposition I must say . . . they say all is fair in love and war. It says little of us humans when we often turn love into combat! It's beyond all reason.

that is true, Tom..it's beyond reason...

thank you,

Indeed being in a relationship can feel like having been in the trenches when discord breaks out and war is declared. Another imaginative allegory expressing the hurt left behind even long after the event. I see them all in one book. What would you call it Jacob?
