Fable

Fable

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Fable

dark sun

amber moon

cows jumping bail

arrest warrants

for the indicted lovers

underage passion

truth left in the confessional

muted tongued priests milk the penance

for all it's worth

orange turns to white to black

to stanchions unclosed

kisses escape young lips

but the secret stays with the priests

and the two smile at each other

at mass, dying for the next reason to live

after the herd is sent to the barn

to whisper contrition in unison.

I like how you use metaphors in this work.

thank you, Tina,

My heart drops when I read of this scenario. The excitement of young love with all its urgency and passion, being made to feel dirty. Watched over by those no doubt who have plenty of real dirt, thick and deep they should concern themselves with. I bet without any doubt it was milked over and over again to make sure those young people felt sufficiently stained to stop what they were doing. No chance says I. What will be, will be. Another fine write from memories Jacob.

thanks for the read, Tom,

Ah the catholic flock has black sheep amongst its herd and they were undone by discovery but covered by the cloth who wish to avoid any hint of sin! Metaphor to die for.
