A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

i saw the train

your face in the window

the goodbye in your eye

at the crossing

idling heart

wanting to cross the tracks

of closure.

I can feel the clueless speaker and how he/she is trying so hard on not losing the most important thing that made him/her the best version of themselves... short, strong and precise poem that describes so much. Thank you so much for this wonderful piece!!

thank you for your insightful words, Alexandra.

The speaker seems to be conflicted here. Unless I am misinterpreting, what we are seeing is second thoughts after apparent closure had seemed to be accomplished. The "goodbye" in her eye is not bearable now. There is the desire to cross the tracks to undo closure. Then again, I may be way off base.
