napkins and lovers' smiles

napkins and lovers' smiles

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

napkins and lovers' smiles

you smiled into my coffee

in embarrassment, it spilled to the saucer

and in saucy repartee

you wiped my chin with your grin

when i asked for second cup

you poured your heart into mine

and i never needed to add a bit of sugar

the sweet darkness in your soul

warmed my insides until i was brimming over

with love,

but then to my chagrin,

we were over

with love

&

you were no longer there

with your grin,

thank you for your words, Fran Marie,

This was so powerful. I felt such strong pulls of emotion from that cup of coffee. This reminds me of the shooting star. It burns so bright and shines so fast. If we blink, we may miss such magnificence. Though if not, then we'll always have that sweet memory, with a grin. Indeed, a powerful write. Great read.

Wow, she made some impact. Like a bloomin thunderbolt, and sadly it didn't last. Your lines really come across with the intensity of this situation. Very well done Jacob.

These lines say it all Jacob:
.."and i never needed to add a bit of sugar
the sweet darkness in your soul
warmed my insides until i was brimming over
with love,"
The intensity and suddenly as you fall in it is gone and you are helpless and unable to stop it happening. You really capture the feeling in this piece Jacob.
