Really is clever. Like how you evoke a story in so few words. The title isn't just a throw-away either; it pulls me in/catches my interest but also contributes to the meaning of the rest of the poem after I've read it. Keep writing!!

Makes me wonder if there's a "Mars Flytrap." Seems men ought to have an equivalent. I think we've all flown too closely to see and touch that beauty. Maybe I need to read that book with the referenced title. :)
Beauty is only skin deep . . . to toss a worn out phrase. Better to admire from a distance than get lost in a consuming relationship. At least that's what Confucius said!

You have taken me back to school days Jacob with your lines. I was fascinated by the Venus Flytrap and just how effective that plant was at trapping flies. Yes I guess it's possible that some women could act in a similar way, entrapping an unsuspecting male. Brevity, which says much.
Swallowed up by love.....not such a bad thing if you ask me. Sometimes, though, the pretty flower is not what it seems. I am constantly amazed at how abundant your muse is! Lydi**
