Caught in the elements

Caught in the elements

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Caught in the elements

the rain is tangible trouble

teardrops emerge

from cumulus eyes

and the sky splinters

with raucous contention

we run away from the slanting rhyme

pouring out of the storm

hoping our electricity won't banish us

from love's existence

that the intensity won't strike our hearts dead

and that when the passion lets up

we will still hold onto the sky

under which we made temperate promises.

We love because we believe in sunrises, not storms or sunsets. Still, we know we must endure some unpleasant elements to see dawn again. We can all related to this one, Jacob.

I:ve always found the best place to.cry is walking in rainfall or on the privacy of the shower. No one else can see those tears, they just blend in with the rest. This is a powerful write Jacob and one which I can relate to. Rainfall will always remind me of teardrops.

1961, that's a long time ago, probably why I hadn't heard of it or Dee Clark. Reminded me of my Mum .. read more

I can understand why, it's a good, catchy number.
Such powerful words
as if the clouds are crying
a storm of emotions.

How breathtakingly beautiful
I love the cumulus clouds ☁

the rain is tangible trouble
teardrops emerge
from cumulus eyes.

Lovely ink bravo 👏👏

liked reading this poem Jacob.... it's kind of a 'weather report' of love.... I know my mind is weird huh?? but as I read I was thinking how important weather is in love (as metaphor)… like in a garden, we need some rain, even some conflict as it often (or can/should) allows us to realize what it is we have in each other.. why we fell in love... how it is that sharing and accepting our different views can strengthen the bond.... of course if those differences turn torrential, and continuous then flooding occurs and we lose everything.... the key is not thinking who's right, but what's right.....

anyway, another wonderful poem from a master poet...

And yet no matter how often we are caught in the rain, we continue to walk through it without umbrellas. We hold onto the dreams we have when a relationship begins. I don't think our hearts ever die. We keep hoping against hope things will work out. Lydi**

"The rain is tangible trouble." Oh, the many things that come out of the blue . . . caught unaware again of love's uncertain weather, hoping it all comes out the way we'd hoped it would.
Thanks, J.

Quite like the Everly Brothers sang "I'll do my crying in the rain". I've always liked the rain...nothing to me as relaxing and listening to rain pound down on a roof.
And words can come like rain, arriving in torrents...coming down so fast they make little sense...or there are too many to put down on paper and then they become muddied...
when all the words are gone and the passion has flamed out and the promises so lightly made have come to an end...we move on.
