old white magic

old white magic

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

old white magic

i fell from the tree

my time was thinning

my foliage skimming

through another autumn

love turns golden before exiting

i fell from the tree

and winter fell on top of me.

Are we but leaves on the trees!? The come and go of seasons . . . leaving behind our days like so much mulch for the coming days to spring anew before us. Interesting piece.

thank you for your insightful words, Tom,

Good poem, j. evokes the changing of seasons well, with a melancholic tear in eye, soundtrack Dick Dale, R.I.P.

Sounds like the testimony of an old leaf. The same might hold true for old people. The "love turns golden before exiting" part is comforting, even if old age is not always so.

...and winter fell on top of me...
Hang on, the red robins are back and the golden rods are blooming.

Lol
it's about time for the crappie to run.
I fell from a tree...not as gently as a leaf..the scars are faded now.

Autumn has always been my favourite time of year...most likely because I was born near the tail end of that season...and too many winters have fallen on me.

How like love...to thin out and fall and leave us standing by the road with our naked branches twisting in the wind.

Good one, j.

thank you for your kind review, Ted,

This feels like the end of a relationship that finally went cold and died.
But I suppose these days, any relationship that survives five years could be classed as epic.
Jesus, that sounds so cynical.

maybe cynical...but it is the truth...thank you, Paul.

Nice imagery here. Fallen leaves and winter snow. Soon the signs of rebirth will appear. Spring is my favourite season.

aww, poor leaf and then the snow; but new beginnings stem from old withering times ... spring is sprung here to start the circle of magic again.

The usage of imagery to depict how love fades away easily.
Nice write up!
