walking into yesterday's groove

walking into yesterday's groove

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

walking into yesterday's groove

we held hands for blocks at a time

the compass always pointing towards the sun of us

you were my "never can say goodbye"

i was your "last kiss"

and then another

and then another

and another

until the breathing ceased to be silent

and we broke embrace

to save our hearts from exploding

across the yellow line

not accustomed to residing

on a side-street of love.

Everyone should get to feel the intensity of love you have captured in this Jacob allegory. More mastery from the pen of emotional painting by words.

I've been wanting to write about a particular kiss from my youth & your poem gives me new ideas as to how this could be expressed with freshness. Your writing is always super fresh & inventive! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

wow Jacob, now that was some 'hand holding'.... damn man, that was a heart beating, breath taking stroll down Main Street... to hell with that side street... there is nothing like a big ole kiss right in the middle of the street as cars stop and horns blare and the world stops turning and my words are breathless just thinking about this...

I think Jacob you can rest assured that I love this poem of yours and I hope that you have experienced this at least once in your life...

Will really b appreciated if u take a look at my work😊
Walking together through all that life has to offer. That unwillingness to say goodbye and to linger on a kiss that begs to be repeated. Isn't being in love wonderful? Nice write.

Take care - Dave

yes, it is, Dave....yes it is.
thank you for your words,

Quite the romantic, here. Interesting poem. "Side-street Of Love" is a nice play on words. Feels more literal than nuanced.
