those first two lines really made me smile, those alone hold the essence of a poet and the world inside their mind
i rarely take note of quotes from other's writing but I'm captivated by these two opening lines

There probably has never been a poet who has never lived with the down side of their creative heart and mind. Put all obscure poets and their work together in one place on a bad writing day and the world would have to deal with a big black hole in their backyard. In the fifty years I've been reading and writing poetry, I can only imagine the amount of nonsense I've contributed to that word sucking, ego deflating, soul robbing hole. Many times I've tried to resist it's gravitational pull, only to return to the desire to say something important in words. So be it, I guess.

Again a heartfelt response to life . . . . and the life of a writer/poet. Congratulations.

Exactly how I feel of late. Trying to write anything new has been at best futile and at worst the worst kind of nonsense that you describe. This is a perfect look at it with a hopeful dash that yes, something is something, but this is more than that.
It seems we are indeed obscure when we don't publish and in the times of drought when poverty of thought or writers block takes centre stage, perhaps we force matters. A break though can reinvigorate. I never cease to find myself racking my brains at your sharp but grainy poetry Jacob.
