a Lincoln for a Leer....

a Lincoln for a Leer....

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a Lincoln for a Leer....

lackadaisical lummox loved loosely

sought sirens' scintillating scent

but bared his bottom bleary eyed blind

causing chaotic cracks in the canvas of his calligraphy

so he wrote writhing wrinkled wrestling thoughts

to temper his too tenacious trespasses

and poetically place his pen in proper perspective

after hours,

wistfully wishing she had a penny

for his profane thoughts.

To me this speaks of the regrets of saying, or writing in this case, a sanitized version of what we want to say but are fearful to do so, or the complete opposite of regretting what we said in truth and realising too late we should have kept that labelled as think only.
Poetry is a wonderful way to edit reality and paint a more acceptable picture of ourselves, as well as being hugely misinterperated... So apologies for where this piece took me :)

not sure I am on top of all this but certainly appreciate the alliteration

thank you, Dave...
Although not quite a lummox, there was a time in my wayward youth that I sat so close to the stage I got splinters in my nose.
This conveys that seedy aspect of certain emporiums very well, j., and the abundant alliteration set it off perfectly..

A good write.

One small typo...line 6 'his'

I liked this a lot, made me chuckle, smile and imagine this image in my head. Wonderful use of words and expressions.
