Verdict

Verdict

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Verdict

absurdity's case came before the court

when i courted you, questions were easy,

judgment would hide among the legalese

of entrapment,

we kissed as witnesses to love

no jury needed to answer a plea's justice

we spoke of future, no objections raised

nothing but passion sustained

and then suddenly

a surprise ruling,

and i was walking away from the trial

trying not to look back

pondering the sentence

rendered.

poor soul ...he didn't raise an adequate defense it seems ..but ... ignorance of the law is no excuse .. ;) a sad refrain when the jail bird sings eh!? :( clever stimulating bit of word play and, per jacob, the metaphor sir ... and though the offence is always pardoned .... the jury convicted anyway .. fun intriguing read says i!

You are a master at the extended metaphor. I would imagine that not looking back must be a very difficult thing.

I suppose in theory you should take the lawyer to the church, to the honeymoon, and basically everywhere after that. You know it makes sense. Do lawyers get married?

Hell, they probably know better, Paul...:)))
thank you for the smile..

Nothing is for free from the light gaiety of being in love and romance for there comes a price if it doesn't work. A case of have now, pay later with interest, like you defaulted on a loan, penalties are now enforced and are decided maybe not in your best interests.

what a surprise... :)
Strange how sweet nothing's, which literally cost nothing can end up by costing an arm and a leg, plus other bits of our anatomy in a divorce court. That's where you took me Jacob, and I have already visited that place.

not a fun place is it? literally or figuratively...thanks for your words, Chris.

No time for regrets eh! Funny how in the begining its all sweetness and honey...but what happens between the flowers and sweet kisses and a divorce court? I look at couples getting married and feel like placing a bet on how long it'll last!

Glitz and glitter tempting but things change when reality sets in!
And the lawyers smiled in glee at being the only winners every time.
People often forget the happiness of absurdity, when we are in the new, until seriousness takes over and it is too quickly removed from the equation, leaving only unsmiling silence and contemplation of where the good times went. If only we could master serious and happy at the same time, then maybe we could cherish the absurdity in love and life, embracing our faults and laughing at ourselves. Perhaps then seriousness wouldnt be so unbearable.

really enjoy your insights, Lorry...and such truth...
thank you,

Sounds like one of life's lessons. A relationship guided by passion, the words entrapment and walking away hint of a breakup, possibly an unpleasant one. Of such trials is a philosopher made.
