This is one of the best "goodbye" poems that I've read of yours. Your analogies coalesce into a sparkling "whole" that delivers the sad enchilada with sauce dripping red. I especially love the opening where you suggest the way a couple slowly becomes ships passing in the night, or rather, passing morning notes (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Another sophisticated write.
Because I am terrible at interpretation, I can at best wonder if a refrigerated rejection makes for a frosty goodbye!
Sorry
I'll just stick to trying to make words rhyme which is difficult enough for me to do.

You take your readers through an empty home that has nothing but memories and fragrance of pain, nothing else to nourish a liaison.... " goodbyes only refrigerate for three days before going bad." Out of sight out of mind! Isn't it?
wow... I love that line - "goodbyes only refrigerate for three days.." makes me think of the way our feelings can change when we have too much time to think over them. not thinking at all and just picking up the pen being the alternative.. and the one i much prefer.. good one :)

thank you for your insights,

The degustation was short lived and only one wanted desert or afters. And you can only guess who picked up the tab to do the dirty dishes as stark reminders. Entertain8ng as always with room for interpretation, food for thought!

the most important meal of the day is that one that was your favourite and you only have leftovers now and even though you may want to hang on to them to make them last it's best to just get it over with before they spoil. closure is a good thing, not good to drag it out. just my own weird interpretation of your poem. :) sometimes I don't even know if I make sense to anyone but myself.

i think you were generous enough to live in hope for those three days Jacob whilst she had no notion of returning. Sometimes we do hang on to things for a long time to keep the memory sweet .. on our part anyway.
