Literal Palette's Implosion

Literal Palette's Implosion

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Literal Palette's Implosion

abstract hearts

paint illusions of figurative love

in circles, squares

then unwanted triangles

degrees of intimacy sliced geometrically

when reality signatures cracks in the frame

and oils drip despondency

onto a leaning floor of regret

and now the artists linger

projecting their work into future equation

the sum much less than the components'

worth of conscience.

I feel all bits of creative expression are autobiographical, even when the artists are deliberately misleading the viewer into thinking something else of the work, it still is autobiographical. Great writing...it sums up the creative process quite well --abstract hearts just going about, describing figurative concepts, and trying to bring them to a more perceivable plane.

sometimes when we can't have what we want we try to imagine it but never fully feeling the joy of it because eventually the bubble bursts

those damn bubbles...yes...
thank you, Ana...appreciate your insight.

I just had to slap myself out of thinking of the heart as pizza, where everyone grabs a slice, leaving none for those we wanted to have it. (i have just moved to a place with no take out, so apologies for that.
But in all seriousnesd, it has left me pondering if the artist trying to show us what they see, or what we hope to see. Reality versus vanity or delusion.
Art and poetry merge in your words Jacob, as well as in my mind, where love for and lack of knowledge also merge for me in both art and writing.

A painter and his palette could be any poet. Many of them work hand in hand. Whether painter or poet they both wish to give of their best. Creative artists alike.

I see this as as a description of your own style of writing, Jacob. A Gestalt creation that is always much more than the sum of its parts.
