LOL.. Yes we all lose our charms in the end..
Fragile takes the place of forever young
Loud and Fast become annoying habits
Oh to feel the sparks of youth !
This is a humorous poem, but it does evoke a sigh from men of a certain age. Indeed, those "invincible''
spark plugs do sputter after a certain amount of mileage has elapsed. Yes, and sometimes getting out of first gear isn't so easy, either. Enjoyed it.
PS: in the title, shouldn't the car's name be plural rather than a contraction?

i stand corrected...and will correct that..spell checker sucks sometimes...it plays games.
Wrecked my uncle's Rebel SST once...most fun car I owned 1966 Austin Healey Sprite...took a road course at Mid-Ohio race track a few years ago...crossed that one off the bucket list.
I still remember the old Nash two seater, two tone green and white. 1961 Jaguar XKE still my high school wish.
Ask a kid what a carburetor is and all you'll get is a blank look...unless he's a gearhead.
Dual carbs...four on the floor...or three on the tree...and Armstrong steering...those were the days.
The mind still has the pedal to the metal until the day we hit the binders.
Good one, j.

Thank you for sharing all the reminders of those great cars...my rambler had seats that went down completely....the front ones...ahhhhhh
Thanks Ted,

had me a red 1965 Rambler Wagon once... nice looking car, no dents, no rust, ran like a dream until the engine seized up and left me sit on old rt22 heading for NYC... it was a glorious pedal to the metal death... was probably trying to tell me something about the lip stick she wore, but I was too young to hear the engine grinding... the only "speed" car I owned was a small die cast model of a 1957 Buick Roadster black and silver... now that was a car, a tank and a love bug all together in my imaginations mind...
no rust or dents on this metaphorical poem Jacob, nope that engine still purrs...

Ah but vintage anything is everything to a woman who knows her motors, j.. !!!
Ferraris have that special ring when you say the word plus, see them run other cars into the shadows. You could write about unboxed Dinky cars and make magic!
Mind you - if I may: a green Bentley once made touch but don't tell to a cream-coffee' Packard parked near outside our family door.. and.. well - not a dent, nor a scratch could be found before they de-fendered their relationship and went their own ways. True! (Forgotten their ages but.. )
See how your wonderful metaphorical meanderings jog my teen age memories.
