a resume of semantics

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a resume of semantics

composition of brash ego

and anomalous jealousy

stole her heart,

then her patience

she fought free

the bonds implied

stated incontrovertible facts

his love was knotted application

and she in turn

was a loose end

with unfurled declension.

Wow a proverbial painter of words! What a way to describe a relationship.

A nice subtlety whilst eschweing obfuscation.
You know your use of language is really second to none, for an English Teacher Jacob. I really like this clever bit of intelligent whimsy.

thank you for your kind words, Ken,

A subtle duality of meaning here , Jacob, particularly in the last stanza. Was it a declension in words or moral standards ? :-)

I maybe like most folk that enjoy writing.. and of course reading, have a deep and long-lasting relationship with words and language... and you jacob, clearly share my passion... I have lost count over the last several years just how many times your posts have made me truly appreciate what it is to be a poet... and this example is no exception sir....

Hmmmm. I just answered your friend request. A teacher of English huh? I taught for some number of years, probably more than you are alive. 5th - 8th grades though I taught English along the way. it was not my forte. Believe it or not, in my freshman year of college I failed English. I got my revenge by becoming, I think, a writer.

I try my best to respond to each write of others that I read. I warn you I don't follow any set rules when I write my poetry. Primarily I write what I feel at the moment. Both in my poetry and my stories I try to portray people and or scenes that the reader can easily relate too.

I hope this friendship works out well for the two of us. My wish is that I don't bore you to tears. I always sign off;

Take care - Dave

we all have those subtle changes of insecurities which are born or started on a word or an action which can result on one being stifled in the process and the other pouring too much emotions.
