composition of brash ego

and anomalous jealousy

stole her heart,

then her patience

 

she fought free

the bonds implied

stated incontrovertible facts

his love was knotted application

 

and she in turn

was a loose end

with unfurled declension.

I have lost count over the last several years just how many times your posts have made me truly appreciate what it is to be a poet... and this example is no exception sir....

Hmmmm. I just answered your friend request. A teacher of English huh? I taught for some number of years, probably more than you are alive. 5th - 8th grades though I taught English along the way. it was not my forte. Believe it or not, in my freshman year of college I failed English. I got my revenge by becoming, I think, a writer.

I try my best to respond to each write of others that I read. I warn you I don't follow any set rules when I write my poetry. Primarily I write what I feel at the moment. Both in my poetry and my stories I try to portray people and or scenes that the reader can easily relate too.

I hope this friendship works out well for the two of us. My wish is that I don't bore you to tears. I always sign off;

I have been doing it for about 28 years now...yes, you have become a writer, Dave, for sure.

Oh my God! I guess I was wrong! No, I taught for 45 years and I enjoyed it very much. I hope you are doing the same.
Mostly American history and reading. The novels and stories we read were related to the history we were studying at the time. For example for civil rights I used 'Huckleberry Finn' , believe it or not.
Thanks for the compliment, You may have noticed that in addition to my poetry I've also written a number of short stories. One of my latest is 'Cabin on the Lake.' I hope you read and enjoy it.

i am not much rules either...poetry has no set rules, at least that is my take.

i have loved it from the very beginning...it makes me feel alive, and that i am doing something not only fun, but worthwhile..i have never called a job, or work...and can't believe i get paid for doing it. 45 years is a pretty nice resume...and just from your attitude about it, your students were lucky to have you.

That is great that you have so much fun that you don't think of it as a job. I tried to make history come alive for my students. While doing the Amer. Rev. I took on the role of a British general, with the accent. Immigration - I put together a program using a character, Patrick O'Shannesy, I made up to relate the Irish immigrant experience as well as what was happening to the Irish back in Ireland, again with the appropriate accent. I had a blast and so did the kids. Years later I've had former students come back and ask if I still did 'Patrick'.

interesting...i bet they loved it...reminds me of the movie Teachers...and the character who had just left the mental institution and ended up subbing in a high school for history class. He donned the Lincoln get up and gave the "four score" speech...and then dressed up as G.W. and crossed the Delaware with his students. Wasn't even a real teacher and probably engaged and taught his students more than anyone else in the school.

Never saw the movie, but I can certainly appreciate his efforts. Kids should be made to engage in what they're studying.
