north wind

north wind

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

north wind

deep freeze wailing

sub zero moans

in blue passion waves

that stall, and still

and chill what was once

a fabled flow of fractured love

now an immovable force

fending off the boredom

the ennui

of prologues

better left unexpressed

the pages blank

as the feelings typed

with fingers of a frostbitten heart.

Extreme cold weather up your way, saw images of Chicago. Equally we are experiencing a heat wave having had 47.7C in Adelaide. How the winds of change be it cold change the axis of the affairs of the heart.

thank you, andrew,

Watching the weather reports it's easy to see that you certainly know the affects of the North wind on the body. You speak of the it's effect on the heart, in love. How shattering to feel the icy chill of love gone and lost forever. I can feel the angst in this piece, good write.

Take care - Dave

some around here in Southern Illinois aren't familia.. read more
love often goes from tropical heat to a winter vortex with artic winds, turning everything it touches into icy blocks.... but then, lost love doesn't really need a northern wind to leave frostbitten hearts

the analogy of the north wind should be on a giant billboard above all the divorce courts in America. It is not the design of the court system to mitigate tribalism. Love can change very quickly into something that resembles hatred, yet it never is really hatred, no more than the cat "hates" when the mouse enters the bedroom. I think the bible says that if a man finds a wife he finds a good thing? And I guess the writers of this passage had the frankable subtlety and the advantage of writing that 2000 years ago. If it's instinct to love it is also instinct to fall out of love....Great analogy...dana

As for this relationship, all roads to love seem dangerously iced and heavily snow-laden.
Come Spring thaw, both will have forgotten the way.
Amazingly portrayed, Jacob!

Our heart sometimes turn into stone when we get traumatized. What a wonderful way of using the weather as an inspiration .

I hate it when Winter freezes out the warmth. That
wailing North Wind is no lover and even Spring has a difficult time thawing that frozen heart

Your winter poem was really good
Aw these lines are cold. Not an ounce of warmth there. What's needed is a tsunami of love. That will melt the frost.
