dear Jacob... my Pulmonary doctor said to me recently, “It is amazing that someone like you in advanced aging ... cares so much about how you look.”. He asked me, “Did you match the hummingbird necklace you wear with the colors in your dress?. The doctor is 59. He does not realize how “Old” he is. I am only 78. It is all in your mind and 💜 truly, Pat

yes, age is rather relative isn't it? thanks for sharing, Pat...

From the title I thought this might describe me! Too much reminiscing about good old times! Your poem reminds me of how some people, in retirement, seem to lose their idea stream. Maybe lack of input. Retirement doesn't have to be dormancy! (but unfortunately for many it is!) Fondly, Margie

mmmmm . . . this might be me!? Actually I've enjoyed writing poems more as I've aged. Yeah, perhaps some of my arguments are moot . . . or just not on other people's minds. Oh, well . . . one of the hazards of old age!
Carbondale!? is there not many(?) universities (schools) there?

In my time, for the future, i wonder.. If ever the internet still stands or my pen of emotion runs dry or will it blood... Will a writer or poet in you retire?
Nice one Jacob, poetry will be the new escape knowing that the hope from dreams will no longer take you where you want to go. The last stop for many in those palliative care scenarios.
I agree with Lydia always a pleasure to read your stuff Jacob, havent been on much lately, I lost the urge to write for weeks / months im back slowly though
hope you are well
I enjoyed this poem a lot. thanks esp the keys.

Does inspiration die with old age? Actually I think we have more time to write when we are retired. Some of the people who lived in the place my mom did wrote wonderful short stories. Maybe they always had the words, but not the time. "blue blood ache"....that line is thought provoking. Do the rich feel more emotional pain as they age? I wonder. Always a pleasure to read you, Jacob. Lydi**
