flip sides and dark sides

flip sides and dark sides

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

flip sides and dark sides

shallow harmonies

discordant natures mature

into orchestrated immunity to love

the original instruments mate

then play notes of regretful insolence

music that gamboled from the grooves

in youth

now reaches vinyl conclusion

with the scratches all too evident

as the turntable winds down

the tunes want to be memorized

and remembered forever

but only a warped sense of serenity

leaves its cold needle

stuck in a heart

skipping across a black surface

a melody of a lost night

that keeps playing over and over

as an old song

that lost its words

in an echo of silence.

love the metaphor in this write, every vinyl has a flip side, the B side as do humans with their emotions and some where in the mix are the memories replayed over and over again.

thank you, Andrew.

Those old songs evoke old memories and can regurgitate one hell of a lot of emotional garbage, best forgotten in my opinion. I tend to switch off.

Always think the most dangerous thing in life is, our song.
Especially if the end is toxic. But even if it's not it's still there as a reminder.
Mind you, you can throw vinyl records for miles.
