it use to be, not too long ago, that all poets came from academia. That is, until Sexton proved that
even drunken life was a call to humanity. (Crane thought that being called a poet was the same as being effete). Poetry was not considered the mannerisms of the manly but the screeching musings of the effeminate. But the 1960's gave a different voice to art and although Ginsberg, Lowell and Sexton were transgender, their voices embodied the souls of confession which was the savior of poetry going forward. I love this poem because it speaks to the human code of poetry writing. Poets are everywhere and they are everything non-scientific.

i really appreciate your words, here, dana.
thank you.
A lot of crazy truths are here. Like surviving a flood poets find our way to tread water or if possible to move forward through the on slot of emotion an clouded communication.
dear Jacob... If our leaders had been more poetic and caring thirty or so years ago... we might not be in the difficult circumstances we now face. The border should have been enforced with a Wall years ago. Now we have heartbreak. God help us all... looking for Christmas Prayers. Amen 🙏 Pat
Yes, we are.
"sterile facts for the chosen ones
metaphors for the fallen ones
the respectful delinquents
writing their wares upon pavement parchment
in chalky waves of diligence"
The above lines. I do like and they are true. The fallen ones make the pen dance. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

Those who are not poets, will never really understand those who are.
Fabulous write, and in particular; 'respectful delinquents,' is just a perfect description. Oh, and I am as dismissive of the interpreted geniuses, as you clearly are.
Beccy.
PS. Haven't been around much lately jacob, my father has been unwell, but is better now; I have much to catch up on

To be anything, to feel something, to find their voice on paper, on parchment, on pavement, in verses or prose, is what the delinquent wants, seeking a moment of pure brilliance, of discovery, to delight his own soul.
Wow! This speaks volumes. You are so talented for I see how you compare those aloof, righteous elites of Jesus' times and compare their outlook towards the talented and normal people as sinners of the word. Wow!
They think they are the only ones appointed by God if I may use that. How many great poets and writers were expelled, looked down on, redicueled and so forth in history, to find out their worth at later dates.
Hats off for you great poet...

Prose people versus poets. Is that what they think, poets are castoffs expelled from the intellectual community? And sinners as well? Oh my, I ask myself whether I would want to move in their circles with attitudes like that. Great poetry Jacob. I've felt a bit like that in my time writing in rhyme, when free verse is the preferred style nowadays. Mind you I am spreading my wings a bit.You have some fabulous lines here.
Poets struggle to convey fleeting thoughts. These can follow several directions and therefore a
challege to the readers if they wish to pursue new concepts of language. As you have sometimes intimated, your words ultimately belong to the readers and their interpretations.
