Bare Trees and too many Scarlett O'Hara'sA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoBare Trees and too many
Scarlett O'Hara's there were summer loves and other loves and love me more's and love me
less'es in their strict tresses on short contracts with shorter commitments and no returns, just return to sender's and yes, i went on some
benders to forget as i drowned in regret mixed drinks to link my
memories until i sobered to the
moment at hand and found theirs were no
longer in mine not a one i was never a
one-and-done kind of poet just kept scribbling
heart scramblings and scrambling to find a
place for my heart a "she" with
which to be a "we" but now it has become a
sordid "i" in a misspelled
"team" the end of a so-called
dream Winter's called it so. erin-cilberto 11/18/18 © 2018 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
