the inevitable chill

the inevitable chill

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the inevitable chill

November incentive

cold, damp resolve

the twitching of an empty branch

once covered with dense foliage

of memories

the summer love that couldn't withstand

frost silences

I want October back,

we had a chance then,

there still could have been beauty in us

but life is a quickly changing season

and regrets that already fell from the tree

cannot be reconnected,

no matter how many bonfires

we set to stave off the snows

to come.

I think that if it does work, October is the month. November is transition and December either magic or death I think. this is a really beautiful and soulful piece. It feels like the gray of a winter sky, but hides in it the possibility of coming in and warming by the fire. Not utterly hopeless. Loved this!!

If, Maybe, coulda...nah... Summer love rarely lasts longer than September...it's bittersweet! However, December brings miracles....I'll be breathy and enduring :) Happy Thanksgiving J !

Broken hearts and broken people tend, it seems, to make for better writing.
Hope all is well with you Jacob.

Aye, all is swell thank you..
We cannot reconnect those fallen regrets, not even with the childlike hope of wishful thinking will they reattach and put things back to the way they were. What difference a month can make, and no doubt come december, we shall be reminiscing for our not so bad november.

Beautifully written, with a final spine tingle flourish at the mention of the S word at the end. Sadly, its already here for me

I read this,
and it reminds me of our differences.
You write of love,
some hovering,
and others lost.

Not a topic I am comfortable with,
and it adds a shade.

I see the words,
but part of me doesn't understand.

The lack makes me sad.

Regrets can play heavy on the mind. Sometimes you reflect to try and pinpoint that precise moment, the temperature started to drop. Great read Jacob.

This marks the end, the early winter has come and things have been left undone. But not this poem, I see it as a new beginning.. I’ve been gone too long from this site but I am delighted to find another touching write by you. Thank you always, Jacob.

The trees have undressed in the chilling November winds along with a cool goodbye to the way they were..if only we could rewind time..well expressed piece Jacob..

It makes you wonder where the root of the problem emanated. Regrets are like a dead rose in your hand you never watered. If only...
