the inevitable chill

the inevitable chill

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the inevitable chill

November incentive

cold, damp resolve

the twitching of an empty branch

once covered with dense foliage

of memories

the summer love that couldn't withstand

frost silences

I want October back,

we had a chance then,

there still could have been beauty in us

but life is a quickly changing season

and regrets that already fell from the tree

cannot be reconnected,

no matter how many bonfires

we set to stave off the snows

to come.

Love your poems . . . but I do feel a deep sadness underneath them. Do hope the light shines brighter in the days ahead, my poet friend.

It does seem that way. Good to hear it's just me then. All the best.

Wow. This makes me want October back as well. You have done an excellent job weaving the seasons and love together in this one. Kudos. ~Jim

Always a pleasure J!
A fine poem from one of my favourite poets here. It catches exactly the emotions of the content, with cleverly applied imagery, but it also has a strong `I `voice, that makes it personal and emotive. I tell all ;
read it if you want to know how to create excellent work.

thank you for your very kind review, Leslie...
dear Jacob... the rain and snow nurtures the earth... we can feel the new birth. The lazy hazy days of summer mirth have faded like roses with frost. Time to hybernate under a quilt of memories. truly, Pat
