glass stones of unbreakable haunting

glass stones of unbreakable haunting

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

glass stones of unbreakable haunting

old fossils
imprints of my youth
smoothed to unrecognizable polish

the curve of your smile
reaching deep into eyes
that shook my knees to placid ground

rock solid romance
lit the planet then
you could probably see it from another galaxy

you were my milky way
my entire sky
and now i can only wonder why

i no longer recognize myself
or you,
even in my space odyssey dreams

just old fossils
to be discovered
by some love anthropologist

in some accidental heaven
when life twists the cap
so tightly, we no longer

can breathe memories.

Loved this write, Jacob....it just aches with wisened experience and longing.

I am yet to reach the fossilised age and i can't say i am looking forward to it. I just hope when that time comes i still can reflect on the loves of my youth, however bittersweet, before life does twist my cap and the memories are lost forever.

Some wonderful metaphors in this one as usual and tinged with both a yearning for the past and a sadness for what has been left behind.

Excellent poetry, as always.

I marvel at how we change, Mr. Jacob! Sometimes it takes ages and sometimes it takes just a twinkling of an eye! Yet change we do, utterly, undeniably, unmistakably. Sadly, we end up, strangers in the mirror. Such brilliant inspiring words, sir!

Oh, how time changes everything. A poignant write Jacob, which took me to a place I know well. Your lines evoke emotions best kept under wraps for me. Another fine write from you.

Great read Jacob. How time brings changes and often unexpected, sometimes a little subtle building over time. Great stuff!

A bit soul-stifling.
Though, of course, who can argue with your honestly-expressed feelings?
Seems to me as if great loves are never lost; they go on cherished in a dimension created by their own powerful and undeniable nature.
Stunning poem, Jacob.
