Other people have said it better so I will not waste your time with me pontificating in naive obscurity that is ultimately vain. I read it, I loved it, thank you.
One of the reviews mentioned hearing music throughout the poem. I agree, with the little hisses and pops that come with vinyl. This is a beautiful poem, evocative of an older, well thumbed heartache.
I guess timing is everything, there is always that one that we wish we had more time with but for whatever reason "things" get in the way, I guess it just takes me to the stepping stones theory again, but when you get our age and the stones go all the way to the other side with only that one stone left that should have held your weight, it makes you rethink theories of "meant to be or not" or "preordained", it makes you wonder if you had done that one thing differently...would it have made a difference?

'memories space themselves out in an array
of intricately laced conceptions...'
How often and unfortunately that happens.
This is very much a relatable write but oh, so many lovely phrasings and word choices.
Always a pleasure and inspiring to read you, Jacob. :)
this is soulful and touching, I can relate to it since music always played the big rule in my life. there are songs which remind us with certain persons, even though we might left them long ago, still these songs stay like a reminder of them, Your poem painted for me the sweetest old love which it seems You know You will never have like it, a love gentle and loving, so are Your emotions through the words.

There are songs from the past that can reduce me to tears and bring back both happy and sad emotions music is powerful, as is poetry. Your words confirm that Jacob.
