two more for breakfast

two more for breakfast

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

two more for breakfast

goodbyes shaded gray

white tussles before the flames

ashen kisses side by side

but HD pictures in the minds

of survivors

we all remember

the stern lectures

the wild laughter

the firm hand

the devil eyes

and the slowing heartbeats

rings picked from the ruins

still embracing

a crease in the moon

a smile?

time passes

but the regard for you

stays at the station

never boarding that train

to eternity

we just sit sipping coffee

while your menus

rest on a table of memory

unread...

I think we all have HD images in our minds of what might have been even though the actual moments have long got swallowed up into the ether....

Why do laptops and computers go against one's wishes to cause more work for the reader. Have already appraised and its asking for another!

Sad recalling moments that could have made for happier and more productive times but let the past remain there and look towards a brighter and more fulfilling tomorrow. This is a relateable piece. Thank you for sharing Jacob.

My pleasure J!
Movement (if only in memory) movement, movement--eternal suspension.
A relationship that never went anywhere.
Profoundly sad.

There are so many clever expressions here that send me on a reverie:
"time passes but the regard for you stays at the station
never boarding that train to eternity"
This poem reminds me of an old boyfriend who always acts so happy to hear from me but then he checks out for another ten years or so *sigh!* Fondly, Margie
