twisted forecast

twisted forecast

 

 

ambivalent skies

blue to gray heart

inevitable storms invade

future memories

 

rain is sometimes soft

just touches the petals gently

 

other times we are swept away

violently absorbing the pelting winds of change

 

sun for some is rare

we reach towards it

with longing

 

but days of smiles seem shorter

than 24 hours,

 

while the aftermath of storms

feels like years.

You do well with the extending metaphor.

Memories can indeed touch us softly like rain on petals, a tinge of nostaglia, a small smirk when a kid reminds us of our childhood..

And other memories can attack us like thunderstorm, horrify, chill and paralyze us.

Like the way you painted the theme.

I was thinking about Stevie Ray Vaughan and his song, "Couldn't Stand The Weather". Or perhaps Waylon Jennings' "Storms Never Last, Do They Baby." I love this, "days of smiles seem shorter than 24 hours" because indeed they do. I enjoyed reading. Thanks for sharing.

Great title. Great metaphor, and storm damage can wreak havoc. Yes that pain seems never ending while our days of joy flash by and do appear shorter. Like childhood for me. Gone in a flash, while much of the other stuff lingers and dies a slow death. Took me on a journey there jacob.

aint it the truth :( i enjoyed the personifications, jacob ... i let the dogs out early ...still dark but those grey skies were still evident ... i guess there is a difference between a smile and joy ... but neither ever seem as powerful nor as lasting as hurt :((( i suppose there is a reason for that eh!? ;} this one is going to stick with me as i watch today, to see if the skies clear or the storm hits ... pity we won't be able to watch the longest blood moon eclipse in a century :(
