In the UK in a time of drought we appreciate and value water - the lack of it and the floods that sometimes follow...as with human relationships that can have 'ups and downs' Profound piece. Kind of you to share its value.
There’s nothing I love more than the cycles of life, with water cycles high on my list, since we don’t get much rain here anymore. This reminds me of growing up beside a 15-mile-long reservoir that was a huge rainfall gauge, looking out my window. My moods were connected to how much abundance my lake was feeling (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This reminds me a little bit of the tarot card death. Beautiful. It's a process death and rebirth, that we all know and connect to. So well put here, I love the optimism of reckless abandon, lovely way to finish.
So I haven’t been on in a while, but sitting with your writing today, all the water and weather metaphors are touching me. Go with reckless abandon my friend! The flow, it comes and goes. The shore will appear again.

yes, the shore will appear again...and thank you for your visit and words, Jen.
Your title and poem mean so much to me j. Yes, “the water rises and falls” and the eyes shed tears as the emotional levys flood over now and again in a lifetime. Profoundly resonant metaphor and brilliant writing. Succinct, eloquent, alliterative lines flow rhythmically. We are filled with joy in the last verse and line. We dry our tears while hope, rising like the”new moon, keeps us buoyantly alive. Kudos.

Somewhere there is a salmon jumping in a cold clear river; following his heart upstream to spawn before he dies. The things we do for love. :) I enjoyed the read.

I agree my friend.
"but eventually,
a new moon rises
and clarity
lets us drift again"
The above lines. Real life wisdom. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

Loved the portent of uninhibited recovery that you suggest in your last line, Jacob:-))
