incomplete morning

incomplete morning

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

incomplete morning

the coffee is cold

the lipstick on your cup

a faded smile

and my danish

tastes past its expiration date

as i stare at your empty chair

wondering why i forgot

to set the butter out

while you were still here.

I like the descriptions in this one. Very vivid in my mind. One moment's thoughts covey a thousand similar moments of regret that we just now think of.

Sometimes we regret the things we didn't do while we could have after the relationship is long done

a lasting snap shot: absence makes the heart grow fonder. I like that this short poem can stand as a screen shot zoomed in on someone's morning, and also a metaphor for not softening the heart when we had the chance; forgetting relationships and life are temporal after all.

Hell, yeah. this has the ring of utter reality in the simplest of terms. I love writing like this takes hold of the mundane and turns it into art. You are the real deal, but I am sure that I am not the first to have told you that. Great Writing.

Sad Sack morning.
Amazingly, in relatively few words, you paint a rather comprehensive picture.

You create place and thoughts for the reader Jacob. Leftover things are deadly reminders. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Very funny. I liked how you made it humourous if that was intentional.
