houses too close together

houses too close together

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

houses too close together

pilfered enterprise
the poet's stash
diamonds uncut, unrevised
stolen and sharpened
stoned syllables polished
in someone else's hands

magnifying glass sees the font lines
conscience blurs the lens
unhappy writers find joy in coveting neighbor's goods

bard next door moves out
thief dies unnoticed,
another suicide by pen
and even then,

he wonders if the ink is his own.

your reply is quite poetic...
I look at this in two ways.
The obvious is someone has been swiping your lines, and rhythm.

The last line brings up another thought,
and now it gets tricky.

During a write,
sometimes a pattern starts.
Nothing deliberate,
and often unnoticed.

This leads to another branch.

The first is simple.
You have started to echo your inspirations.
Might not have been a conscious choice,
but it is a little disheartening when you realize.

The second is somehow your words match.

You have done this to me before,
and I don't mean this in a bad way.
When you have to look up references in a review...
No clue who the person is,
or what they have wrote.
Then you read it.
Those could be my words.

You got me rambling jacob.

Also, I would like to say this turned into a review longer than my writes!

"conscience blurs the lens

Its human to covet beautiful things including the words of another. But it should only inspire one to try and excel in the art, not to steal.

Full of brilliant satire, this write humbles and inspires me at the same time. Kudos sir!
