Clone Clown

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Clone Clown

sorry i took your poem

word for words

and passed it off as my own

i just needed to post something

been so long and the muse had packed her bags

didn't even leave a goodbye note

or i 'd have used that

i hope you don't mind so much

if it wins any awards

or a Pulitzer or something

i'll give you credit in my acceptance speech

but i have to ask you,

have you any words on that subject

to share?

i need to sound good at the podium

absolutely nothing like me.

One time I met a clown. Then he decided to eat a hamburger. Grate poem!

I’ve read a fair number of poems expressing a head of steam about those who plagiarize. But to me, such a snappy satire (like you’ve done here brilliantly) is the way to mock their lowdown ways. I love the way you stretched it to the absolute maximum (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

thank you very much for your words, Margie...

the laziness and shattered morales, narcissism
of plagarists never ceases to amaze me. i don’t know what kind of satisfaction they achieve by stealing other’s thoughts, experiences, etc, then not only trying to pass off as their own works, but truly disillusion themselves as to being the original author,
hell even an actual writer?

fantastic poem, brilliantly covers the subject matter
at hand.

absolutely love the closing stanza! thanks for sharing ~ x

Ha! The humble--and surprisingly likable--plagiarist.
What a salesman you would have made!

OH MY! When I posted poetry on another site, I was plagiarized and people who knew my poetry called her on it. She used exact lines from my poetry....and she had a totally different style...if indeed she had one at all. "i need to sound good at the podium absolutely nothing like me." Fantastic line!!!! This one hit me! Lydi**

Sadly, there are some who can't help themselves. It's cheating in my opinion. If they are stealing others ideas and passing them off as their own, then it is nothing but cheating.

A futile and pointless exercise in my view. What possible satisfaction can a person gain when they know in their heart of hearts they are an empty shell without words.

You are right though jacob. There are far too many out there.

This is a sarcastic poem but has lots of truth in it. These type of people are criminals in a different form. If they weren't stealing words, they'd be stealing underwear off someone's clothesline. Or worse!

Good one, Jacob.

Just love the wry humour in this, Jacob. The final denouement smacks of a certain, prominent, but ungifted "tub thumper ". Now .....I wonder if I'm right?????:-)
