tossing the old ones aside

tossing the old ones aside

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

tossing the old ones aside

trust the stone

(if there is much moss congregated)

age, wisdom

a stone's throw

skipping upon a pond

of insight

the green ones

skip farther

even when the mind

can't go much further.

We're part of earth, a stone in Mother Nature's garden, and when called upon, we skip until we sink; a place for fish to hangout... and sometimes a damn good place to catch fish hooks. I only hope at 50 is that I collect a bit more moss. Good one to reflect upon this afternoon, J.

Senior citizens have much wisdom to impart if we are willing to listen. The mind of an older person holds golden nuggets. Great metaphor. lydi**

Many do not listen...many do not even hear.
Yes I agree, the older persons, grow in wisdom, as a stone gathers moss. Thank you for your wisdom.

As recollect memories it seems a lot of them sink so far down that not even a nostalgic diver could not retrieve them.

I'm an old mossback myself. (chuckling) It's not that I haven't done my share of rolling but I'm more settled in the stream these days. Having wandered many a mountain stream I can attest to the literal account of trusting the moss covered stones. You don't want to step on a slimy rock in a swift current. I'm not sure that age and wisdom are necessarily complementary. I've met some people wise beyond their years and a few old folks that I wondered they had survived so long. But as a general rule I think it safely applies. Always a pleasure to read your words my friend.

A rolling stone gathers no moss, therefore a settled stone must. Maybe you don't develop any wisdom unless you are prepared to travel. Stay in the same place and your outlook will be limited. I may be way off the mark here jacob, but that is what your lines are telling me.
