being your aftermathA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertobeing your aftermath heat
seeking missile your scent finds its target and i succumb the damage catastrophic in a perfect way i fall like a long-legged
building too many stories high to
count and collapse gracefully
into your arms as the polluted memories
scatter you are my new insurance
claim and it is neither here
nor there to me whether i collect
anything more than another kiss or two rebuilding is just an
intrusion because I’d rather be
your happy rubble than your disengaged
exclusion… erin-cilberto 5/2/18 © 2018 jacob erin-cilberto |
