The make up after a big fight, sometimes can be very tender and sometimes awkward but I can recognize the pleas for peace and harmony here. Nicely done.
Another excellent poem, sir j. Relating war to a relationship, each one would become each others great enemy. And it is so sad that the once happy couple now become two cold-hearted separate individuals.
Great!
Though we often make references to war and battle when relationships go badly, I've never read a poem that so succinctly and creatively captured the theme so well. Many rich words and phrases in this piece. I believe most estranged husbands and wives want peace, especially after reaching exhaustion from months or years of intense fighting. And, "a cold war of indifference" is perhaps the best end and summary of this type of war. Always a pleasure to read your work, J.
never dissapointed Jacob love this especially since it was Anzac day a few days ago

especially wars of the heart....
thank you for your words, Julie.

Deeply touching, reinforces the futility of warfare and all the hatred and bitterness, and overwhelming grief it causes. Do we learn? No, it is never ending. Another poem that can be read on several different levels. That's what poetry does, it takes you on a journey. Thank you Jacob. First rate poetry.
Tis always the fodder that fights because he or she hasn't a choice. And all the while others sit at tables blahing on and parents welcome home their children draped in flags. I think of the poem about the true story of German and British soldiers stopping on Christmas to play football and exchange little gifts then.. picked up their rifles to continue the slaughter.. Your poem brings reminds us all, experienced in warfare or not, that wars have been fought forever.. and it seems, few realse that if war was that
successful.. we'd learn how to be at peace... always.. not tied up in 'a cold war of indifference.'
Wise man, you.. and more than a fine writer. .

Glad someone does! It's such a relevant write and finely put, jacob..
Honest, true and powerful words shared Jacob. People, who not see war, touch war and see the murder of cities and people. Don't understand.
"cease the tears
of civil discontent
and entreat forgiveness"
The above lines are needed. Forgiveness need healing. Healing need gifts of water, food and housing. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry and your thoughts.
