A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

close to the rhythm

impertinent touch

lovely hands massage heart's incentive

it's a fine line between unwanted interruptions

and delightful delays

we just need a reason to procrastinate our song

so the lyrics can gather momentum by sunset

and pens gather sounds

like soft flowers

that don't care about time.

There is a devil may care attitude going in this one. A reason to procrastinate.....we put off till tomorrow so often and sometimes it even makes sense....till it doesn't. There are interruptions in life that are welcomed....even hoped for. Your poetry always makes me think. I like that. Lydi**

As anyone trying to do anything knows: 'it's a fine line between unwanted interruptions and delightful delays'. Good poem, Excellent line.

A fine poem, with ,I think, an excellent fusion of themes, the heart, music, beats, all different sides of a single poetic observation, excellent.

Have run out of superlatives; forced, unfortunately, to descend to comparatives.
You're not quite Frank O'Hara but deeper than Ogden Nash.
Outstanding poem!

you are kind...and no, there is not another Frank O'Hara...he is one of my favorites, and to whom i .. read more
And so the poet hunkers down over a cluttered desk seemingly engrossed in writing when a love bursts into the room...

all bets are off...

Inspiration has arrived...let the song begin.

Good write Jacob

All writer's suffer ADD when it comes to tunnel vision of creation. A slight smile, or enticing look and all at once our train of thought is at the station.
You nailed it with this enticing gem.

exquisitely penned! i love the way your words spinnned a web of whimsical, romanticism of longing.

my favorite lines are the closing stanzas. i also love the title of this. nothing more i can say except that this is simply stunning!

For some odd reason, i find some wit in this, perhaps a smiling heart that feels the true reality of an 'impertinent touch' There are indeed those magical touches that set the bells chiming like crazy and oh! the ensuing flights of fancy along with them! The pauses, shared in secret places, studied.. treasured.. those are the delightful delays that lead to.. the un-caring of time. Perhaps? .

Fine nuances, result: erin-clberto at his finest.
