Love reading your celebration of diversity, packed with originality as your poems always are! This might be the most brilliant line I've read in months: "gender is only an address god gave us" . . . a timely sentiment with the topic of transgenders in the military up for grabs again! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
I’ve read this probably twenty times and the picture it weaves is one of discrimination and hate. If we can all find it in ourselves to stand together instead of apart, we may have a chance. I also took away from your concluding verse that, if we expect others to accept US as we are, how dare we have anything but love and respect for our fellow neighbors 💖
There is so much human-ness in this. Ultimately we are all finding finding ourselves. No matter who or where we are. We are all on the path to understanding, just some of us find our selves in different envelopes. This piece seems so important now, with all we have going on. Your work and your vision is always sharp.

you are very kind with your review, Jenn...
thank you
wow Jacob - I really love this - my kinda style of thinking - every word rings true for me I especially love the last two stanza's. It's so true we are all as equal as we allow ourselves to be - a selection of ourselves is formed through others - answers only come when we really want a truthful answer - self awareness starts and ends within. Love it X
"And the winner is....................... Ma and Da!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says i! ;) my mind goes several directions in reading through your poem.........not sure which route i should talk about :} your poetry seems always relevant jacob

Unfortunately, there will always be an inner circle of often pompous pseudo elite, whether zip or postal codes have anything to do with it initially, I think depends. Those that are in a position to vote on such matters probably hold and wave the casting vote. Certain factions of society namely those without a Y chromosome appear to be finding their voice, and maybe rightly so. However, I suspect some of hose who are now shouting loudest deserve an Oscar..............An interesting, topical & altogether well balanced write.............................N

No problem whatsoever, but rather my pleasure entirely......Neville
I'd like to think that the bubbles you and I live in are just as important as hollywoods, but as you well know, regular life don't sell. We live in a world where the fish in the river will always persue the shiny object for his next meal. Hooray for narcissism!! Excellent poem. CD

Are we defined from the day we are born by our sex and the place we live? To a certain degree, I believe we are. But really we are defined by so many things....our education, the friends we keep, the kindness we show. A zip code can not fully define any of us. Interesting one, Jacob. Lydi**
