Visitation

Visitation

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Visitation

just supposing

i kissed your name

across the lips of my mind

would your thoughts politely decline,

kiss me back on the forehead of my intent

tap the shoulder of my advance

with a brush-off smile

and a slight tear

you have buried your feelings

within cheeks having custody of your heart

just supposing

there exists a key

to unlock your acceptance

and i found it

would you opt for parole

or retreat further

into the cell you created

for that which beats within you

but could beat within us.

You really are the master of metaphor, jacob! I swear you could convert a telphone directory into extraordinary language! Seems finding a way forward is a concern; to date, perhaps a void between contemplation and satifaction?

you are very kind, thank you, em.
and great pic.

Your title more than hints at the conclusion; a mere "visitation," no touching, kissing or physical intimacy. So, the visitor is left with his/her imagination and desires to get behind the metaphorical bars, or for the "jailed" to see freedom. Of course, some are not willing to leave the safety or confines of a caged heart, so visitation remains the only option. Another clever metaphor used so well in this piece, J.
