A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Reconstruction

arrivals of hearts in need

love bonnets

a deep south kind of feeling

plantations growing emotional cotton

soft enigmas

pleasure and pain

conjugation and segregation

chains of feelings

in fields of fluorescent filing

the chains come off

the bees nest in the bonnets

honey cone sweetness devoured

little resistance needed now

seceded unions

equal bondage shared by both

and finally

love knows no color

other than tender rose

when we all become

of one garden.

J., your vivid imagery is so real to me. I lived in southeast Georgia for 15 years (pecan trees, cotton fields down the road). So many memories rush back with this piece. Because I immersed myself in the history and culture, I have a deep appreciation for what you convey in this poem. So much richness in your words. The previous reviews have said more than I can express. Another impressive poem, sir.

thank you, Julie.
Some just hit home, you could waver around this theme, feel a tear for its beauty, see the whole earth in a poem.

Regards,
Al

i have recently been reading up a little on our founding fathers and their brilliant work in those building block documents of ours ... (i am working on a collab) reminders of that war ..approx. 620,000 deaths related to it ... what a trail we dragged ourselves over ever since ..but as in you closing ... the becoming of one as a nation and peoples is so strong in spite of those who would like otherwise .. splitting by race and social standing is a vicious political tactic that demeans those that employ it in my mind ... greed and avarice doesn't care ..we have much farther to go in our halls of congress than "we the people" ...i like your rose jacob .. nice reminder of things
