i squared

i squared

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

i squared

you were a calculated risk

my math was too brisk

and invariably unreliable

i was a supposed sum

of what damage you could multiply

when you wanted to,

the X and the Y

and now i wonder why

i was drawn into your equation

when my senses surely surmised

i would end up

an imaginary number

                                   in your conscience

and a negative one

                                         in mine.

I was never mathematically inclined, but this just evokes the class of cool. Great job, J.

J., I will admit I'm not a math guy. In fact, I hated the subject in school. Still, I like it, and I get it! And, if a "negative number," I'd detest it even more. Clever and original. Nice work, sir.
