the most current game

the most current game

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the most current game

a relegated source of intrigue

i was your busy for awhile

your dandy distraction

your intimate diversion

and excursion

into self-acceptance

loving me was loving you

and i bought into the agreement

no prenuptials

just perpetuals

until there weren't

i was unguarded

when you discarded

a bad hand, tossed in

a blue chip investment

turned to the red side of the ledger

a goodbye gremlin

tossing and turning in a moonlit

roulette wheel

a shooting star crashing into sense

you found busy in another sphere

and i became an idle heart

lounging in your memory

a rocking chair figure of speech

a thesaurus of adjectives

looking for a new noun to modify

Jacob,
Good images and movement . . . like sliding relentlessly into rejection and feeling its effects.
I really like your last stanza. Seems a resignation, a an acceptance of reality in this world. Am I wrong here?!

The game . it really is a game when meeting another person , the intentions masked to not be so reviling. Everybody is trying to play a safe easy going game until completely being fooled in the dogmatic perception that it is not a game ! So fearful and confused and the works. However if we all put our cards down and grabbed a glass of water took a breath and drank we would remember the laughable matter of " let's not take this so seriously, its only a game ." then the game could commence with relief and joy. Just a thought brought from this great read . thank you for sharing . we see and feel the pressure of the game often.

I do understand these words.
"you found busy in another sphere
and i became an idle heart
lounging in your memory"
The above lines. Painful and true. Thank you Jacob for sharing your amazing poetry.

Sometimes we keep repeating the same mistakes hoping to find a solution once and for all, isn't it.

The heart breaks, still it finds way to love again, to be broken again - the story keeps repeating making us wonder what is it that we end up doing wrong...

its a sad story , i hope a happy chapter brings back the smiles :)

okay Jacob, I though we agreed that you would stop breaking my heart with your poetry... shaking head with the knowledge your words bring... "I became an idle heart lounging in your memory", wish I would have wrote that...

how is it that we so often lose in opening our hearts??? I want some shooting stars damn it!!! ;0) even one would be nice...

I agree Jacob... still hurts though, the losing, not the loving...
The bitterness at having been used by a shallow serial user fairly drips from every line of this one. The tying together of so many unique images is truly impressive. The only use of old pains is that sometimes they can be the impetus to fine art. Well done.

Ah, a lesson in love, or mistaken love. We're often the trial drug for someone's deficiencies, or a play thing until they find a new toy (pick whatever metaphor fits). Then, we're left nothing but a memory, and sometimes a good lesson. Another great piece, J!
